$3 million funding tourism funding opportunity

The NSW Government has announced $3 million will be available through 2 funding streams through the Tourism Product Development Fund.

Stream 1: $1 million Refresh and Renew Fund - offering $10,000 grants to regional tourism operators to update their product or experience.

All applicants must be proposing work on a tourism business that:

  • Is based and operates in regional NSW

  • Is registered for GST

  • Has a current GetConnected (ATDW) listing. More information on GetConnected is available on the Destination NSW website

  • Is bookable online

  • Is available to visitors for at least 50 weeks of the calendar year

Stream 2: $2 million Experience Enhancement Fund - provides between $50,000 and $150,000 in matched funding to assist operators upgrade existing accommodation to improve their star rating, upgrade business and leisure event venues and facilities, repurpose existing infrastructure to provide new facilities or experiences not currently available within the destination, or to create new tourism attractions or experiences.

Experience Enhancement Fund is available for:

  • Upgrading of existing accommodation to 4- to 5-star

  • Upgrading of existing business and leisure event venues/facilities to meet client requirements

  • Repurposing existing infrastructure to provide new visitor economy facilities, services or experiences not currently available within the destination

  • Creating new tourism attractions or experiences Funding of between $50,000 and $150,000 excluding GST on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis will be available for eligible project costs.

To be considered for funding applicants must register or login through https://tfp.dnswextranet.com.au/ Applications must be submitted for both funding streams by the closing date and time on 31 March at 9am.

What can WRI do to help your Experience Enhancement Fund application?

  • Provide Benefit Cost analysis to illustrate the value for money your project offers

  • Estimate the economic impact of your project and the value it would add to the local economy, how many jobs would be created and what income would flow to local households

  • Create or review your project plan - including communication techniques and timetabling of engagement processes, budgeting, creation of milestones and how you will manage the project to meet these times, procurement processes and risk assessment

  • Assist you to value your in-kind contributions from volunteers or services offered by community members

  • Assist you in getting the required letters of support

  • Design a reporting framework for easy acquittal of the grants funds and monitoring of your progress against project milestones
