- Heather Waters
2020 Skillset Trainee of the year winner

The Western Research Institute’s Administration Officer, Heather Waters, has been named as the 2020 Joyce Hawkes Trainee of the year.
Heather has been with WRI since late 2018. She completed a Certificate III in Business and did so well she signed up for Certificate IV in Business straight away.
“I was a finalist in last year’s awards and was thrilled with that. Winning this year is so exciting and I am really proud of what I’ve achieved” Heather said.
“Taking on a traineeship was a life changer for me. I have been able to manage my job, study and the demands of a young family.
“And with all of the things going on in my life, I still love my job and look forward to coming to work every day” she added.
“The traineeship program has worked well for us. Skillset assisted with the recruitment and assessment of applicants so when Heather applied, I knew she was a good fit for our small team. Skillset continues to support Heather with regular catch ups regarding her work and studies. “WRI’s CEO Kathy Woolley said.
“Heather has picked up so many skills since she has been with us. It is great to see a colleague progress this well.
“Winning the Trainee of the year award is a fitting outcome as Heather has worked hard on her studies and in delivering her duties. A well deserved honour “Ms Woolley concluded.
Congratulations and well done to all the other nominees and winners, what a great achievement! See the full announcement here.
