2018 has a been a successful year for WRI in attracting investment to regional Australia and embarking on our direct contribution to regional development through our Inland Research Fund initiative.
WRI’s consulting services have been the backbone of our business and contribution to regional development almost 20 years of operation. In 2018 our services have been used to attract over $700 million in investment to regional Australia.
Providing regional businesses, community organisations and local councils with independent and reliable information on which to make these critical investment decisions is a core objective of our strategy as an organisation. We are committed to ensuring regional communities continue to have access to high quality advice.
In 2018 WRI was awarded Excellence in Social Enterprise at the Western NSW Orana Business Chamber awards. This achievement highlights our continued dedication to supporting regional development.
Another way we contribute to regional development is through our Inland Research Fund. This year the Board resolved to commit a portion of the fund towards a ground breaking project which will provide data insights for small regional centres. We’re currently in discussions with key co-funders for this important project and will be launching a pilot of the project in mid 2019.
WRI’s team of research professionals continue to enhance their expertise and local knowledge, lead now by CEO Kathy Woolley who returns to WRI after many years in local government.
I thank our staff and Directors for their continued commitment to regional development.
We also would like to congratulate and thank our many stakeholders and clients who’s projects and initiatives pave the way for our regional communities to grow and flourish.
