Government Sector
WRI's team of analysts and associates work with local, State and Federal governments, and regional development agencies, to develop regional and industry profiles, population studies, program evaluations, and assist with community and strategic planning. A sample of our work is set out below.
TRANSPORT LANDSCAPE AND CONNECTIONS ANALYSIS
Regional Development Australia Far South Coast commissioned WRI to assess the transport landscape in the Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla and Bega Valley local government areas within the context of the implications and impacts transport linkages have with access to employment.
Economic Contribution of Recreational Fishing
WRI partnered with the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security at the University of Wollongong to develop a cost effective method to measure the economic contribution of recreational fishing to the NSW economy for the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
Industry Profiles and Forecasts
Regional Development Australia Central West commissioned WRI to prepare a set of industry profiles, and to analyse a variety of materials to prepare projections for industry and employment growth to support their regional strategic plan.
Climate Change Adaptation Program Evaluation
The Central NSW Council’s (Centroc) That’s a Good Idea! (TAGI) Climate Adaptation program was funded through a grant provided by the NSW Environmental Trust’s Urban Sustainability Program. WRI was engaged to undertake evaluation activities over the course of the whole program and to provide a final review. A Monitoring and Evaluation Framework was developed to guide the evaluative work.
