The Western Research Institute (WRI) is a not-for-profit economic and social research centre based at Charles Sturt University Bathurst. The Institute comprises of eight full time staff, each with their own field of expertise. The WRI is governed by a board of eleven members of the community representing significant businesses and organisations across Western NSW.

The WRI was established in 1999 and since then has become renowned for producing credible and reliable research. The Institute has completed numerous projects for all levels of government, small and large business and community groups.
