The WRI is experienced in the preparation of economic
analysis, econometric modelling and financial analysis. These studies
use economic models and analysis to draw conclusions about the economic
contribution of actual or proposed investments, organisations, infrastructure,
events and business to the economic development of the local region.
The WRI has strong credentials in input-output modelling
and has constructed tables at the national, state and regional level.
The Institute has completed a range of modelling studies from the economic
impact of Mount Panorama in Bathurst or holiday parks in Kiama, to the
significance of BlueScope Steel or the pork industry to the Australian
economy.
The WRI has also played a role in public policy
debates including access to Kingsford Smith Airport by regional airlines
and the role of cooperatives in providing more competitive petrol prices
for regional areas.
