The Regional Business Survey has been conducted in various formats throughout regional NSW since 1999. Whilst the results of each survey are not directly comparable, they do provide an indication of the economic performance of the region over time.

In 2005 Reliance Credit Union became the major sponsor of the business survey and it was renamed the Reliance Credit Union Business Survey. The survey is co-funded by the Central West and Orana Regional Development Boards, who receive reports on the performance of their specific regions.
